Spring Break - Memories in the Making?

Mandatory Update Law In Action!

Well, it's been a little under two weeks since I updated this thing. For those of you who know me through this thing (probably like, 0.3 people, or something), you haven't missed a whole lot. I didn't go to the state game this weekend, which was okay, 'cause they lost. I'm happy for 'em just making it that far, anyway.

Schoolwise, everything's going okay... big physics test coming up this next week, the week before spring break, and I don't really know how to do any of it. Totally my fault, I know, but it's so easy to get distracted in that class, when Mr. Weber doesn't really consistantly stay on the topic, and David is making all of my diagrams of masses into drawings of spinning saw blades and star-nosed moles. Government is... well, Government. We're still chugging along, nothing of interest to report. Except there's a huge Cabinet test this week at some point, and I don't know how I'm gonna memorize a bunch of agency names AND cabinet member names. (I sort of... skipped out on studying Government this weekend... hee hee... oopsie...)

Band and Choir have been mess-around time. We had contest last weekend, which I really should have written something about, but it was rather uneventful. The Band got a decent II, the choir, a III. Basically, we went class A in choir, and the judges all hated us. Mr. Zimmerly was pretty broken up about it all, but I say screw it and move on. I think maybe we start Cafe Redbird next. As for band, well, I got a week off 'cause they just practiced pep band stuff for the state game, and there was no way I was going, so I just did other stuff.

Meanwile, to give a subject-to-subject transition, the Freshmen and Sophomores have been OGT testing this week, so we had three days of pure two-hour-late-start bliss. Before this week, I had no idea such a heaven existed. I got up five 'till 10 instead of five 'till 8 Monday and Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, I planned a special senior breakfast, and a bunch of people came over, and we watched Futurama, and it was good.

Well... I should go do something productive... I've been "writing" this entry for an hour.... so I'll update more later.

A small victory for the HTML illiterate Jimmy!

Hey, just so you all know, my links work finally. I figured I should probably do something about it. I'll probably be adding more as I think to, also, and if you've got a nifty blog that you want me to link to, just ask me. That'd be great!

I'm free! I'm free!

If you happened to notice the jubilant title of this entry, you might have noticed that it is a proclamation of my independence. This is a result of the final college audition of Jimmy Lingenfelter. And that is a good thing. A VERY good thing. Because I was getting tired of being trucked from home to college every weekend (Thank you mom & dad) and now I'll have more time to practice trombone and piano and work on my role in "The Music Man" and do schoolwork and spend time with my friends and heck, maybe I'll even eventually get to cleaning my room (highly doubtful).

Of course, I might have some time, because Spring Break is coming up, and all of my friends will be going to Quebec (I'm just not cool enough) so I'll have plenty of extra time to get some stuff done. I might even get around to using some gift cards I have left over from Christmas.

Anyway, the highlight of this weekend along with my acceptance to the music program at Wright State was by far going to see my friends perform in The Loudonville Players' Jesus Christ Superstar. I was very pleased with the results. Unfortunately, due to my involvement in the WaCPAC Wooster production of "Anything Goes", I couldn't quite make all of the performance dates, so I had to fold on that endeavor. I kept telling all of the cast that I thought it was worth it not to be in it just to see it. The set was awesome, the band was awesome, and when Scotty was singing his solo, I had tears in my eyes. Probably a mix between the subject matter at hand, the great music combined with Scott doing a , and the fact that this is our last year of highschool together. Yeah, that'll do it. It the words of Scott, It rocked, literally. I had a lot of other great friends in it, and lots of people I'd worked with before were in it... I felt kind of bad for not being in it, but it was great nonetheless.

Well... umm... other than that... I actually went to a basketball game Saturday night with David. It was pretty intense, but not too nerveracking, because Loudonville was ahead by about 10 points the whole game. I was all worried that they would lose, because I was probably bad luck or something, since I hadn't gone to any games yet and they hadn't lost, but I was wrong. Afterwards, Mr. Herman treated us to some delicious Fazoli's (I had the Alfredo with Chicken), and then I came home and Katherine came over and we watched DeLovely.

Now, see, I didn't know this until just that night, but it's a remotely new movie, and it's about the life of Cole Porter. Knownst to me, he was the guy who wrote the musical I was recently in, Anything Goes. That was a nice surprise, unfortunately, most of the movie was about how he was gay, and it was one of those movies where you keep thinking it's gonna end, but it keeps coming back for more. But it was Kevin Kline, and he's great regardless.

The next thing that happened was that I got the gumption to ask Katherine out. Now, I know what you're thinking. Well, okay, so I don't. But I'm not real smart when it comes to this whole relationship thing, and it seems like a good idea, and she was all for it (I hope), so I guess we're a thing now. I suppose I should have told people at JCS, but it's a bit of an intimidating thing, to be honest. Especially since I don't know if a lot of my friends or family would necessarily support it because of how my last relationship went... ah, but I figured that I should really give it a go before we leave for college. I learned a lot from my relationship with Laura, too, and I'm feeling a lot better about applying myself to the relationship. I honestly don't know what I'm getting myself into, but ever since I got done with my auditions... gosh, I really felt like life was great. I love (or, for those of you who don't believe in young love, whatever the strongest emotional equivalent a young adult feels is) Katherine a lot. I won't go listing reasons, as I've read more than enough of those, but here's hoping that it works out for the best.

On that note, I'm not sure what it is about this weekend, but I feel like something in me changed. I don't know if it was the beautiful weather we had today (gotta love those slightly chilly, ridiculously windy days), or that I got my toothpick bridge for physics on a good start (kudos to dad, who took my design and helped me run with it), or that I'm done with my auditions (now I just have to wait and pick one), or that I've got a girlfriend to always be there for me and give me hugs & to dote upon mercilessly (hopefully it lasts more than three days). Whatever the reason, the feeling's more than welcome to stay, at least to get me started into college.
